May Arts Marathon:

Pat’s May Arts Marathon

May Arts Marathon Participant: Pat Sheehan

Mission: I’ll be producing photographs drawings and hopefully by the end of the month, a painting for this fundraiser. I broke my right arm in January, shortly after committing to making time for creativity. Helping and protecting our neighbors and friends in a time of energency is a great incentive, as my arm recovers, to put real meaning into my art.

Message: The May Arts Marathon is CASP’s key fundraiser. CASP hopes to raise $50,000 this year. With all the uncertainty around the new administration, one thing we know for sure is that people who are experiencing violence and terror in their home countries will continue to seek asylum in this country. Sponsors like you are key to CASP being able to support its mission of cultivating a supportive community for asylum seekers in Southern Vermont, while fulfilling basic needs and accompanying them on their journey towards building a better life in this country.

We are in the midst of a truly terrifying time in our nation. Our neighbors and friends who are asylum seekers are living with fear and constant anxiety. We need to be doing everything in our power to protect and to help them.

The May Arts Marathon is a community effort. Artists support their vision for a just world by sending copies of their creative work to sponsors like you 5 days a week for the month of May. Sponsors donate to support this work. Together we support asylum seekers who, in turn, enrich our community with their determination, energy, and diverse experiences.
