May Arts Marathon Participant: Owen Schuh
Mission: Paintings and drawings based on mathematics. I work by hand so things take a long time. I’ll be sharing my process, works in progress and some newly completed works.
Message: I’m really proud to contribute to the May Arts Marathon for CASP SVT. I’ll be working on drawings, paintings, and maybe a bit of 3-d work. My work often takes a long time to complete, so I’ll be focusing on my process and research as much as completing longer term projects. I’m looking forward to sharing the parts of my work that people don’t usually get to see, especially in service of such an important cause.
The May Arts Marathon is CASP’s key fundraiser. CASP hopes to raise $50,000 this year. With all the uncertainty around the new administration, one thing we know for sure is that people who are experiencing violence and terror in their home countries will continue to seek asylum in this country. Sponsors like you are key to CASP being able to support its mission of cultivating a supportive community for asylum seekers in Southern Vermont, while fulfilling basic needs and accompanying them on their journey towards building a better life in this country.
The May Arts Marathon is a community effort. Artists support their vision for a just world by sending copies of their creative work to sponsors like you 5 days a week for the month of May. Sponsors donate to support this work. Together we support asylum seekers who, in turn, enrich our community with their determination, energy, and diverse experiences.
