May Arts Marathon:

Andrew Clark’s May Arts Marathon

May Arts Marathon Participant: Andrew Clark

Mission: Share my watercolors of New England landscapes and portraiture

Message: I am excited to be participating in the Southern VT CASP (Community Asylum Seekers Project) May Arts Marathon, and I am inviting you to join me! This is almost exactly like a Walk-a-thon or any other kind of “thon” fundraiser— but with art!

As a participating artist, I will be dedicating time in my studio at least five days a week during the month of May, and will document and send to my Art Marathon sponsors. You will receive an update almost every day in May that includes my paintings of New England landscapes and portraiture. I will include captions and descriptions of my practice, notes on materials, and would also be more than happy to answer comments questions about the work.
It will be like a private art and creative feed from my studio directly to my sponsors!
I am planning to use email updates to share daily updates.

CASP’s mission is to support asylum seekers in Southern Vermont. Now, more than ever, we need to find creative ways to support these people who have fled violence and oppression in their home countries and are seeking safety and a new life here. The Arts Marathon is truly a creative opportunity to do just this. As a Vermonter, I can attest that the asylum seekers and resettled refugees who live here either temporarily or long term are welcome, and are an important part of our community. We want folks who are in such a dire predicament to have the resources they need to start their new lives here, and that is what CASP focuses on.

I see this as a benefit for everyone involved. I will be motivated to practice my art every day and know that I have an audience with whom to share it. You will receive and, hopefully, enjoy my work. Asylum seekers will be assured of funding to help with living expenses, housing, legal support, and emergency needs.

Will you consider joining me?
