I am excited to be participating in the Community Asylum Seekers Project’s (CASP) April Arts Marathon and I am inviting you to join me!

CASP is a non-profit organization in Brattleboro, Vermont whose mission is to cultivate a supportive community for those seeking asylum in Southern Vermont, while providing for basic needs and accompanying asylum seekers on their journey towards building a life in this country. Now, more than ever, we need to find creative ways to support immigrants who have fled violence and oppression in their home countries and seek safety and a new life here. All proceeds from the Arts Marathon are essential to CASP’s ability to accompany asylum seekers who, against all odds—terror at home and now fear here—continue striving for lives of dignity and independence. Currently CASP staff are meeting with families to plan for the unthinkable: if parents are detained, who will care for their children? Staff are guiding families through setting up temporary guardianship, and these conversations are heartbreaking.

Through the April Arts Marathon, we can build a collective community of care and resistance, while making a huge impact in the lives of asylum seekers!

How does it work? As an artist, I will be practicing my art five days a week during the month of April. As a sponsor you will pledge a donation to CASP and, in return, receive my work digitally each day. To become a sponsor, sign up on my personalized fundraising page and make a donation to CASP there. We accept donations of every size!

I see this as a benefit for everyone involved. I will be motivated to practice my art every day and know that I have an audience with whom to share it. You will receive original creative pieces the entire month of April. Asylum seekers will be assured of funding to help with living expenses, housing, legal support, emergency needs, and accompaniment services.
