Help an Afghan Asylum Seeker Walk Toward Independence
We're raising funds to help a warm and courageous woman from Afghanistan who is seeking asylum in the United States. She is a mother of two young daughters and lives here with her husband, but her journey has been far from easy. She contracted Polio as a child, and her leg brace that is essential for mobility, has finally worn out. Walking currently very painful and exhausting. She has no health insurance and is currently not permitted to work. Ever trip outside her home, even short distances, requires a car ride, making even the simplest errands a challenge.
A new brace would be life-changing. It would allow her to walk longer distances with less pain, reclaiming a sense of independence and dignity that many of us take for granted. She longs to be able to take her daughters to the park, go shopping, attend English classes and appointments without relying on others, and participate more fully in her community.
We're asking for your support to help cover the cost of a new custom leg brace, ongoing medical care, and physical therapy. Ever contribution, no matter the size, brings her closer to a life where she can move through the world with strength and self-reliance.
