Brent Seabrook Make one good photo each day, and send it to you, sometimes with minimal text. I will find the subject while pursuing my daily activities.
Jessica Weitz I will be working on a writing and installation piece called D/evolve. It will include poetry, short essays, paintings made with soil and plant pigments, and a woods installation. This work is partially inspired by participating in a National Science Foundation grant to reimagine biology through a feminist/queer lens through work on a module called The Feminist Poetics of Creatureliness.
Lauren Olitski Paint, paint, paint! I plan to create between 12 and 20 paintings in a variety of sizes, often using discarded or repurposed materials in addition to more traditional artist materials. I’ll share process photographs and studio updates regularly. Upon request each sponsor donating $50 or more will receive a 5”x5” work on paper mounted to mat board, also created during the course of the marathon.
Linda Fuhrman The product will be an altered book - a dictionary that has words and definitions deleted (whited out) or altered (cut-and-paste) in a satirical protest of the activities of the DOGE organization.
Pat Sheehan I'll be producing photographs drawings and hopefully by the end of the month, a painting for this fundraiser. I broke my right arm in January, shortly after committing to making time for creativity. Helping and protecting our neighbors and friends in a time of energency is a great incentive, as my arm recovers, to put real meaning into my art.
Kaitlyn Whitaker I will be creating traditional media pieces of Vermont's wildlife to celebrate the natural world and support those building new lives in our community.
Lauren Watrous Drawing and painting
Timothy Hayes I plan to use this time commitment as motivation to explore new designs in wooden sculpture and/or sustainably built furniture, using wood from our local woodland. I'm already designing art pieces that include some expression of protest regarding our current political & environmental crises. Every $10 of donation to my efforts for CASP will secure one ticket to a raffle of one of the pieces I create this May.
Candace Jensen Natural & Hand-made Art Materials, Calligraphy, Short Essay, Poetry & Drawing
Tina K Olsen I will be painting animals, people, plants and landscape as if sheltering each other. The style will be abstract forms intertwined in bright colors and in black and white. Compassionate shelter that we give each other and animals is our protection. I hope to illustrate this.
Cathy Osman May in Vermont is unpredictable, as is my studio practice. Some say don't plant your garden until after memorial day. Who can wait? I will use this challenge to remind my self and hopefully my audience that everyday efforts yield change. I will document these changes for you, whether they be the evolution of an oil painting or more casual moment on paper.
Owen Schuh Paintings and drawings based on mathematics. I work by hand so things take a long time. I'll be sharing my process, works in progress and some newly completed works.
Rosi Olivan Artistic Explorations with Homegrown Indigo
Larisa Volkavichyute Authenticity, connection and art
Nancy Jane Lang My Whimsical Illustrations will include a unique theme each week; Fairy Tales, Seascapes, Celestial scenes and Paper Sculptures!
Hanna Moors I will share a range of work such as life drawings, flowers, portraits, studies of my favorite artists, and 'urban sketching'. I like to experiment with styles, materials and techniques. Each work will include a short description of my thought processes and inspiration. Come and join me in this scary but exciting journey to support asylum seekers.
Deb Brown I will share art with natural foraged materials and fibers (like weaving, basket making) and maybe oil paintings. I will share photos of my progress every day.
Laura Petto Graphite portraits and some watercolor - will be working on my contribution to my lab's pride art gallery
Andrew Clark Share my watercolors of New England landscapes and portraiture
Madeline Fan Exploration to make spacious visual images, stories, jokes
v l I will be sharing lyrics, sketches, and drafts of dialogue -- a graphic novel in progress.
Liza King Telling the story of immigration in my family (all four grandparents) and weaving that into other stories, historical and possibly contemporary. Painting, drawing, writing. I'll be creating visual art some days and writing on other days.
Ruth Shafer Power Quilts to Comfort and Inspire!
Appel Bronstein Sketches and test panels, in watercolor, pencil, ink, maybe even oil or acrylics for a new series of grid paintings based on words, phrases, and poems. I will share photos or brief descriptions of my process each day via email.
Sheila Garrett Sheros and Heros - inspired by Rob Shetterly’s series of paintings, “Americans Who Tell the Truth”, (look him up if you don’t know his wonderful work), I am beginning a collection of sketches I call “Sheila’s Sheroes and Heroes”. Using photo reference, I am doing pencil sketches of activists who have inspired me for decades. Some, like Wally and Juanita Nelson, Helen and Scott Nearing, Harry Belafonte and Jimmy Carter are not physically alive. Others, Greta Thunberg, Daniel Hunter and Hisham Awartani are young, very active, young enough to be my grand children. They inspire me and offer hope for the future of human kind. They will be working to change the world long after I’m gone. I’ve been blessed to know some of them personally, others I have met and some I’ve admired from afar. I will do a drawing a day and send a photo of it each day. I’m playing catch up cuz I started late but I will send multiples till I catch up. If you can’t sponsor but still want to see the sketches, let me know and I’ll send the photos regardless. Along with each sketch, I will include a very brief statement, my connection and/or what about the person has inspired me. If you would like me to do a sketch of someone who has inspired you, let me know and I’ll do my best to add them in. This is a wonderful opportunity for me, for you if you’re interested and CASP is already raising a bunch of money, so it’s a real win/win/win. Thanks, Sheila
