And welcome to two new Board members, Adriana Negrón and Larry Childs!
Adriana Negrón
Adriana Negrón was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and moved to Vermont in 2021, starting the Brattleboro Community Nest Initiative. This project provides postpartum care packages to hospitals for new mothers. As a certified doula, she earned the Southern Vermont Emerging Leader Award in 2022. At the Ethiopian Community Development Council (ECDC), Adriana led the creation of the Perinatal Women's Group, connecting newly arrived refugee mothers with resources and community support. Adriana currently serves as a Program Director at the Root Social Justice Center, where she is Director of the Black, Indigenous, and People of Color Thriving Network (BTN). BTN is a dynamic and inclusive network of self-identified People of Color dedicated to building sustainable communities, healing from racial trauma, and driving systemic change. Adriana has also launched impactful initiatives such as Pride without Borders—an art exhibit for LGBTQIA+ refugees and asylum seekers—and SYNC (Supporting Young Neurodiverse Children and Caregivers), which focuses on children aged 0–5 on the autism spectrum. A proud wife and mother of four, she cherishes her life in Brattleboro with her family.
